SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
ONLINE ENCOURAGEMENT FORUM
The following services and events are all designed to help our community not just survive the challenges we face from day to day, but also to thrive and accomplish what we once thought was impossible. Our dreams, health, social and emotional goals are still within reach and UCOS can help our community get there.
UCOS HELPS U
Whether it is an idea that you would like to pitch and are trying to find out if it is even worth exploring, or you just need to be seen or heard for a moment, one-on-one discussions are available by appointment.
Many of our members believe in the power of dreams and the answers they carry within. For those members that enjoy diving deep into dream interpretation, UCOS is happy to help facilitate this art form.
EXPERIMENTING WITH SELF-CARE PRODUCTS
Sometimes on-the-spot-sensory-therapy is what is needed. There are many homeopathic self-care products on the market that can help us get through that five-minute stressful event. It could be that taking a deep breath of a minty essential oil or applying a quick avocado facial mask could refresh your outlook. UCOS helps sisters identify the most useful self-care products that can help us in a pinch, or even for a day long sensory therapy session.
There are so many resources out there today that are not only extremely helpful, but also low cost and even free. For some time websites have been a rich source of helpful information, but today, Podcasts and audio books are high in demand because of how simple it is to listen to helpful resources on the commute to work or during a vigorous workout. UCOS helps identify the most helpful resources on the market today.
UCOS is a strong advocate of a power that is greater than ourselves. Spiritual practice means many things to many different people. Often this is tied directly to culture, or in many cases, it comes down to a positive or negative experience that leads each of us down a path towards belief or non-belief. UCOS members come from all walks of life and all people are welcome to become members regardless of their religious affiliation. Discussion on the topic are often had, but we only engage in positive dialogue and discovery, as we are only searching for knowledge.
UCOS explores perspective, attitude, beliefs, happiness, success and so much more through in depth discussions, art projects and study during workshops and multiple day retreats. Much of what we do in our lives is a result of our conditioning since the day we were born. Depending on our goals, we can study what beliefs or attitudes are stopping us from being the people we know we are meant to be, doing the things that we are meant to do in order to make a real difference in our communities.
Through an informal group communication app named GroupMe, participants and members can encourage each other, ask for advice, or even recommend products, services and events to each other that would be helpful in the lives of women and girls.
Advocating for girls and women is the number one priority for UCOS. We at UCOS attend and encourage members to attend rallies, events, workshops or any other educational opportunity in support of women's issues. It is important to show support for our community and partners.
DISCUSSIONS AND WORKSHOPS
A member can expect a storytelling wellness retreat in Oregon, a vision board workshop prioritizing goals, and an aspiring entrepreneur can have access to a one-on-one brainstorming session. UCOS takes a holistic approach to helping our community reach their goals.
BUSINESS IDEAS, PROJECTS AND FUNDING
Our community is made up of women who are either searching for a career, wellness path or even a simple mantra in life. We are made up of both single and married women who have many projects and business ideas we want to develop, but don't know where to start. UCOS helps our community get started and for those who qualify, the Lisa Ward business micro loan!
The crown jewel of our service offerings. Sister Talks are a platform in which women and girls can "tell their story, from their perspective". Everyone has a story to tell and as Maya Angelou said "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you." Sister Talks are told in many locations both physically and virtually. Stay tuned for the next Sister Talks event.
INFORMATION AND REFERRALS
Many of our sisters are faced with great challenges daily in their single lives, marriages, with their children and even their living arrangements. Although UCOS does not offer psychological services, we can supply a sister with community resources that can potentially help.
